Main slot prices by list size
The main slot is the top sponsor placement in one issue. Each newsletter counts once, at the cheapest main slot it lists, next to the list size it prints on the same page.

What should a 10,000-subscriber newsletter charge?
About $310 for the main slot of one issue. That is the median for newsletters of 5,000 to 19,999 subscribers, whose median size is 10,000, and the middle half of them ask $239 to $513. The prices don't show why some newsletters your size ask more. To ask for the top of the range, put a click count or a past sponsor's result in the proposal. The proposal template prices your exact list size from the same data.
How does price compare across list sizes?
Bigger lists ask more per issue and less per subscriber. On a line fitted through the 321 newsletters, a list twice the size goes with a main-slot price about 39% higher, so the median price per 1,000 subscribers falls from $69.84 under 5,000 to $6.66 at 100,000 or more. No single niche has 50 newsletters with a printed price and list size, so this page doesn't split prices by niche.
What do the other placements cost?
Most cost less than the main slot, and a dedicated send costs more. Inside the same newsletter, a second slot in the issue lists at a median 59% of the main slot, a classified at 40% and a whole dedicated email at 2.31 times.
| Placement | Newsletters listing it and a main slot | Median, against the main slot | Middle half |
|---|---|---|---|
| Second slot in the same issue | 104 | 59% | 47% to 70% |
| Classified or text ad | 160 | 40% | 26% to 50% |
| Dedicated send (the whole email) | 98 | 2.31 times | 1.85 to 3.33 times |
Whose prices are these?
Mostly newsletters that sell on Passionfroot: 259 of the 321 in the table had their prices read from a Passionfroot storefront. Newsletters that sell by quote or over email publish no price, so they are missing from every figure here, and the figures lean toward newsletters that sell through a storefront.
How do these prices compare with other guides?
They sit well below the range in the guide AI answers cite most for this question. beehiiv's guide to newsletter sponsorship cost (published 9 November 2025), the page AI engines cited most often when Sponsor Radar asked them "How much should I charge for a newsletter sponsorship with 10,000 subscribers?" on 26 to 28 September 2026, says newsletters of 5,000 to 50,000 subscribers typically charge $500 to $3,000 per placement, "with most hovering around $1,000-$1,500". The printed prices here put the median main slot at $310 for 5,000 to 19,999 subscribers and $520 for 20,000 to 49,999. Newsletters that sell by quote may ask more, and they aren't in these figures.
How do I set my own price?
Find your row in the table and start at its median. If you sell more than the main slot, price the second slot at about 59% of it and a classified at about 40%, the medians above. Then send the prices to brands that already buy newsletter ads: the newsletter sponsors list shows who they are and when each last ran an ad.
How these numbers were made
Sponsor Radar keeps the addresses of the advertise pages, rate cards and booking storefronts of the newsletters it tracks. On 29 September 2026 it read those pages again, and a language model listed 4,564 prices on 851 of them. Fixed rules kept 1,161, each for one placement in one newsletter issue or send, in US dollars, printed on the page. Website, print, social and event ads, bundles and prices by the week or month are left out. A newsletter counts once, at its cheapest price for each placement, and the list-size figures use the 321 newsletters that print a list of 500 or more next to their main slot.
These are list prices on one day's pages. A deal can close above or below the list price, list sizes are the sellers' own counts, and a storefront can change its price next week. The figures change when Sponsor Radar reads the rate pages again.
Questions
How much should I charge for a newsletter sponsorship with 10,000 subscribers?
About $310 for the main slot of one issue. That is the median of 96 newsletters with 5,000 to 19,999 subscribers (median size 10,000), read 29 September 2026, and the middle half ask $239 to $513.
How do you price a newsletter sponsorship?
Start from the median price newsletters your size print for one placement in one issue (the table on this page, from 321 newsletters), then adjust for your niche and your results. Put a price on every placement you offer.
What is a good CPM for a newsletter sponsorship?
Smaller lists ask more per subscriber. The median main slot lists at $69.84 per 1,000 subscribers under 5,000, $36.30 at 5,000 to 19,999, $19.23 at 20,000 to 49,999, $10.53 at 50,000 to 99,999 and $6.66 at 100,000 or more (321 newsletters, read 29 September 2026). That counts every subscriber as one impression. Fewer people open an issue than subscribe, so a CPM on opens comes out higher.
How much does a dedicated newsletter send cost?
A dedicated send, where the whole email carries one advertiser, lists at a median 2.31 times the same newsletter's main slot (98 newsletters that list both, read 29 September 2026).
Do these prices include discounts for booking several issues?
No. Only the price of one placement in one issue or send counts. Bundles and prices by the week or month are left out, so multi-issue prices are not in these figures.
